Served with a Side of Love

I saw “love” this past weekend, and although Valentines’ Day was nearing, it had nothing to do with jewelry or chocolates or dinner reservations. Bruce and I had some friends over for spaghetti dinner Saturday night, and right there at the dinner table, as our gentleman friend dished out a plate for his dear girlfriend, is where I spotted it. He put her sauce on the side – not on top of the noodles as one would expect. He did this because he knew that’s how she liked it. He did this because he made an effort to memorize the details about her. He did this because he LOVED her. And this small, simple gesture measured volumes in her heart. Makes me wonder what details about my loved ones have not been getting enough of my attention…

It is the smallest attention to detail that lets others know we love them...I am guilty of not memorizing these. What a sweet reminder to focus on others.
