Fears

OK, so this blogging thing is a bit harder for me than I thought it would be. See, I have issues. I am so paranoid and protective of my writing, that I am actually SCARED to sit down and just start writing. It’s not that I don’t know what to write about – I have TONS of ideas! Seriously, I probably waste most of my day thinking either wacky or deep thoughts, but when it comes to putting the pen to the paper – or in this case, the fingertips to the keyboard – I freeze up a bit. Such a silly fear, but one that actually robs me of the joy of doing something I love. I wonder how many of you out there are the same way... I wonder how much of our lives are robbed by fear.

In Proverbs 1:33, God says, “But if you listen to me, you will be safe and secure without fear of disaster.” And in Jeremiah 51:15, we are reminded that “”The LORD made the earth by His power, and He preserves it by His wisdom. With His own understanding He stretched out the heavens.” So I’ve gotta think that any logical, clear-minded person would be able to put those two nuggets together, knock themselves in the forehead, and exclaim “DUH!” I mean, if God is that powerful, that wise, and that understanding, why would we allow ourselves to ever be frozen in fear? Why WOULDN’T we just start living through the power of God? But of course!  It's so obvious!

And yet, here I am, already wondering if people will laugh at me when they read this post…wondering if they’ll think I’m crazy…just wondering…

Oh, Lord, give me strength. :)

You're not crazy. I love to write and I go through the same motions you do. Go and get your hands on a copy of Brenda Ueland's If You Want To Write, ISBN 1555972608. 179 page paperback published in 1938 that reads in a day or two. It will help. Believe me. And it's worth all 101 pennies.

Tamara, I have that book! My brother Jim gave it to me for my high school graduation. I need to read it again!
